Christmas markets are definitely one of my favourite things about this time of year. I have never been to one as big or renowned as Lincoln, so it is fair to say I got a little excited when the medieval Christmas market came to the city. Despite the bitter winter chill, the smell of mulled wine and roasted nuts in the air, carollers singing and the Christmas themed decorations, lights and celebrations absolutely everywhere creates such an incredible festive buzz which makes you feel like a little kid again. Plus, the historic cobbled streets combined with the Norman castle and the impressive Lincoln Cathedral creates a perfect backdrop for a traditional Christmas market.
The market itself was HUGE, there were stunning looking stalls selling pretty much every tasty food that you can think of, from German frankfurters (which I tried for the first time, I can confirm they are delicious) to doughnuts and fudge cake as big as my head! I couldn't help myself and spent a little too much money on unique little gifts for my friends and family but it was totally worth it.. It is safe to say that I am so much more excited for Christmas now, bring on the festive celebrations!
