Blogmas #7 - The Christmas Tag

I am in such a festive kinda mood today and I think that tags are such a great way to get to know people better so I thought that I would attempt my own version of the Christmas tag, while sitting here listening to Christmas tunes and totally not stuffing myself full with fudge...

1. What is your favourite Christmas film?

Probably like pretty much everyone else my favourite Christmas movie has to be Elf, purely because of Will Ferrell and how amazing he is at acting, but Two films that remind me of my childhood are Home Alone and The Grinch, both of which became like a tradition to watch around Christmas time, even though the Grinch himself did actually scare me a little bit..

2. Have you ever had a White Christmas?

I only remember one Christmas where there was snow on the ground and we totally had a Christmas day snowball fight before dinner, but it's actually really sad that I have never experienced a real White Christmas where it is actually snowing, fingers crossed for snow on December 25th this year.

3. Where do you usually spend your holiday?

In my opinion there is no better place to spend Christmas than at home with your family, enjoying a huge feast for Christmas lunch, opening presents and spending the afternoon watching festive films and digging in to chocolates and mince pies!

4. What is your favourite Christmas song?

Probably has to be Fairytale of New York because of how many memories it brings back and it always gets me in the festive mood, but I summed up my favourite Christmas songs in my Christmas playlist blog post.

5. Do you ever open presents on Christmas eve?

I was always under the impression that it was 'bad luck' to open presents before Chritsmas day (not sure how true that is though) but that didn't stop me and my brother from giving everything a shake to try and guess what was inside.

6. Are you a pro present wrapper or do you fail miserably

I think that the term 'fail miserably' is a bit of an understatement, me and sellotape really dont get along and the presents that I wrap tend to look more like s crumpled balls of rubbish than those lovely neat box shapes that you just want to tear open so you can always tell which presents are from me without even looking at the label!

7. Can you name all of Santa's Reindeer

I still remember the rhyme that we used to do at first school all these years later (no shame):

"Now, Dasher! Now, Dancer! Now, Prancer, and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid! On, Donner and Blitzen!
 And not forgetting Rudolph!"

8. What Christmas traditions are you looking forward to this year?

We always start Christmas morning with a special breakfast and exchanging presents, before my family all come over and devour a roast dinner together (I don't mean to brag but my Dad makes the BEST Christmas dinners) where it is a requirement to wear Christmas hats and jumpers. We then watch the Queen's speech before relaxing with Christmas films and treating ourselves to a few festive drinks. Although, this year I am just really looking forward to spending valuable time with my family after spending so much time away from them at University.

9. Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

Unfortunately it is fake this year in our flat, but I much prefer real ones.. I find it really exciting picking out your own unique Christmas tree and taking it home to decorate, plus they create the most festive smell. It is an aim of mine to start a tradition of collecting unique little Christmas tree decorations that actually mean something to the family!

10. What is your favourite Holiday food/sweet treat?

I am a big fan of roasted nuts and I probably eat far too much fudge for my own good, he writes with a mouth full of fudge.. Also, half my Christmas dinner usually consists of roast potatoes and stuffing.

11. Be honest : do you like giving or receiving gifts better?

Definitely giving gifts. I love opening presents and appreciate everything I get but there is always a guilty feeling at the back of my mind when someone spends money on me.. On the other hand it is such a great feeling seeing someone get excited about a present that you put a lot of effort into getting them!

12. What would be your dream place to visit during the holiday season?

New York is one that is probably on most people's list, and for good reason. It is a pretty amazing city for sightseeing to begin with, so imagine how incredible spending the festive season there would be, with all the lights, decorations and the world famous Rockefeller Christmas tree as well as the ball drop on New Year's Eve, especially if it was snowing too. That's one for the bucket list.

13. Do you make New Year's resolutions, Do you stick to them?

I always try and set myself goals to achieve during the year and normally manage to stick to them pretty well for the first few  months before gradually getting worse. This year I am determined to make New Year's resolutions and follow through with them all, hopefully I will be able to get them all down in a later blog post.

14. What is your favourite Christmas memory?

This is technically not a Christmas memory, but I stumbled upon a picture of me totally enjoying my first Christmas the other day and it made me smile so I couldn't not share it!

15. What makes the Christmas holidays special for you

I love the festive atmosphere around this time of year, everyone just seems so much happier and less worried about the stresses of life. It is a special time to spend with the people that mean most to you and I think it is important to appreciate everything that you have. Some people aren't lucky enough to be able to spend Christmas with loved ones, have a warm roof over their head or receive any gifts, so for that I count myself as incredibly lucky.

If you have done the Christmas tag then leave a link in the comments and I would love to check it out!
