Radio 1 Big Weekend 2015

What. A. Weekend. After a lot of stressing over online ticket waiting lines, I was actually lucky enough to be one of the 50,000 fortunate people who were able to get their hands on a ticket for the radio 1 big weekend in my home town of Norwich. This was such a big event for Norwich considering nothing big ever really comes here, despite being voted in the top 10 best cities in the UK and when I first started university in Lincoln, very few people actually knew where Norwich was!

I would just like to start off by saying that I have never been to a festival before. There, I said it. Before you judge me, it's not something that has been completely out of choice, but more due to my strong dislike and discomfort of being trapped in the middle of a huge crowd, something that I have struggled to overcome and has put me off attending music festivals up until now. After all of my worrying about feeling claustrophobic or being trampled to death by screaming Taylor Swift fans, the day turned out to be so much better than I expected it to be and I actually loved the atmosphere of being surrounded by so many happy and excited people, especially since we were very fortunate to have amazing views and be so close to the front for most of the acts.
During a day full of delicious pizza, wonderful music and a little bit of a rain shower, which didn't dampen any spirits, I found myself singing along to artists that I didn't even think that I would enjoy such as Olly Murs and George Ezra, purely down to the awesome festival like atmosphere. Imagine Dragons were by far my favourite act of the day, it is such an incredible atmosphere when around 15-20,000 people are all passionately singing along to some of your favourite songs by one of your favourite bands. Plus, I am also happy to say that I can now add a huge tick next to 'see Taylor Swift in real life' on my (very long) bucket list. The music carried on well into the night with an amazing live evening performance by Foo Fighters, where by this point I had thoroughly lost my voice, my legs were feeling a bit achy and wobbly and my energy meter was running low. I had the best day and I enjoyed it so much that I am already planning my next music festival experience in the near future!

I managed to snap a few pictures throughout the day, which aren't the best in the world, but I wanted to post them anyway to share my experience and keep a little mental note of a great day engraved onto my blog! Yay, Norwich!

One of my flatmates went to this too and I'm so jealous! I wish I'd known about it beforehand to get tickets - Imagine Dragons and Taylor Swift would have been so awesome. Sounds like you had fun, maybe I'll get to go next year!
